Our Parish Vision – A Quick Look
Christ Church is committed to KNOWING Jesus. In a world of “competing christs” we are committed to being bible-based, so that God’s revelation of His Son, Jesus Christ, as recorded for us in Holy Scripture, is front and center. The authority and trustworthiness of Holy Scripture informs and establishes our knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Christ Church is committed to GROWING in Jesus. The Christian life is not simply the avoidance of God’s judgment at the end of time (a kind of “fire insurance”), but a daily walk with our Creator and Redeemer, in order that we might become the men and women God has called us to be. Being family focused gives us the context for such growth. Whether married or single, being a part of the family of God provides every member of Christ Church the opportunity to grow in Jesus Christ.
Christ Church is committed to GOING in the name of Jesus. As Archbishop William Temple once said, “The Church is the only organization that exists for those outside its membership.” While what happens within Christ Church is central to who we are, the call to spread the Gospel locally, regionally, and internationally is central to what we do. That’s why we are mission minded – from feeding the homeless in Savannah to offering hospitality through our Tour of Homes to taking the love of God to foreign lands – it’s all about going in Jesus’ Name.
Every committee, every parish structure, every activity, is seen through the lens of KNOWING Jesus, GROWING in Jesus, and GOING in the Name of Jesus. This simple vision is clear, cogent, and compelling, and will guide us faithfully as a parish for years to come.
